El Castillo Golf Resort

El Castillo

El Castillo Golf Resort is located on the outskirts of the town of Jumilla, on the road to Callaspara, which is surrounded by vine groves that stretch as far as the mountains that form a backdrop to the valley.

Famous for its Origin Denomination wines, the historical town of Jumilla stands on the high plateau of the Region de Murcia in beautiful scenery where the coastline lands give way to the plains of La Mancha.

The town and surrounding area still retains many traces of its rich history and culture. The cave paintings in the Barranco de Buen Aire, the small Iberian village of Coimbra as well as the villas of the Roman period and Arab fortress that stands above Jumilla, are prominent examples and many of the remains can be seen in the Archaeological Museum of Concejo.

Despite this Jumilla is not stuck in an historical time warp. The town has kept pace with the march of time and offers residents modern commercial and social facilities. The surrounding countryside is a paradise for anyone who wants to connect with nature in this unspoilt part of ‘real’ Spain. Walkers, cyclists and artists can enjoy the dramatic Sierra del Buey and Sierra de Santa Ana mountains and the Sierra El Carche Natural Park.

The location of the town at the conjunction of the regions of Murcia, La Mancha, Andalusia and Levante makes Jumilla a natural hub of communications to anywhere in the peninsula and for access to air travel, Alicante and Murcia airports are just under an hour away.

El Castillo

El Castillo Golf Resort is a development of around 1,400 detached and semi-detached villas, bungalows and apartments built around a 9 hole golf course.

In addition to the 9 hole golf course there will be tennis courts, football pitches and communal pools. A unique feature of the resort is the equestrian centre created out of the original Yeguada Cibeles breeding farm which still produces highly prized pure bred Spanish horses. A herd of more than eighty mares, foals and stallions are carefully managed within the stable areas and house owners and their guests will be able to enjoy riding though the magnificent local scenery.

The resort will have a comprehensive range of commercial facilities including a hotel complex and golf course club house. The Jumilla region is of course known throughout the world for wine making and owners of properties on this exclusive resort will be able to purchase their wine supplies from the adjoining bodega. This is not an ordinary bodega. The owners are to develop the bodega into a working tourist attraction with an on-site hotel to welcome wine connoisseurs to sample their excellent wines and gain a first hand experience of the process of winemaking.
